Street maps give us an aereal view of a city, so we can see where the different building are: parks, hospitals, schools, car parks...

Usually, street maps are divided in grids. These grids help us find the

different places in a city. The grids use lines to divide the map into rows

and columns:


Rows
  • Go from side to side.

  • Usually, rows have numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5,...)

Columns
  • Go from top to bottom.

  • Usually, columns have letters (A, B, C, D, E, F...)



Street maps have a key with different symbols for the different buildings:

museums, theaters, schools, hospitals, car parks,...
