Basically, plants have 3 parts: roots, stem and leaves.

ROOTS: it is the part of the plant that is under the ground.

Roots have got two main functions:

  • To absorb water and minerals from the soil (nutrition).

USING THEIR ROOTS, PLANTS TAKE WATER AND MINERALS FROM THE SOIL

  • To hold the plant in the ground (so the plant can´t go away with the wind, the rain,...).

THE WIND CAN´T TAKE THE PLANTS AWAY THANKS TO THE PLANTS´ ROOTS

STEM: it is the part of the plant that connects the roots with the leaves. Stems can be woody or soft.
