We can find almost 5,500 kinds of mammals. Does it sounds a lot? Think that there are around 800,000 kinds of insects!!


Humans are mammals. Bears, dolphins and mice are mammals too. So, as you guess, there are many differencies in size. Let´s see those differencies:

But, apart from their size, most mammals share the same CHARACTERISTICS:


  • Mammals are viviparous, that´s to say, babies are born from their mother´s womb. Babies suck their mother´s milk.

  • Mammals have hair (or fur) on their bodies to keep them warm, as mammals are warm-blooded animals.
